Congratulations to the city of Marietta!

Marietta was named one of the 10 best communities in the United States by the National Civic League as a 2006 All-American City. This is one of the oldest and most respected community recognition awards in the country.

Each year the national Civic League recognizes civic excellence, honoring communities of all sizes in which the people, government, businesses, and volunteer organizations work together to address critical local issues. Marietta was joined by 600 other cities in vying for this award. Mayor, Bill Dunnaway said, “The City is honored to win the All-American City award because only four other Georgia communities have won the award’s 57 year history. This means that the work we’re doing is among the best in the country, and it’s great that others recognize it too.”

Marietta City Manager, Bill Bruton added, “Everyone in Marietta should be proud because winning the award is the result of the entire community working together. We appreciate the community’s work for the great progress we’ve made in the last three years.” Bruton also stated, “This is the premier national award for communities and winner have seen an increase in tourism, grants, and better bond rating.
